The case for and against

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Bull case

Angi is viewed positively because it is executing a decisive shift to an AI-native marketplace, freezing legacy feature updates and concentrating all product and engineering resources on tools that can improve matching, quoting, booking, and follow-up. The early data are encouraging: roughly 50% of homeowners are already using AI features in the core experience and converting at about 3x the rate of non-users, while 1Q26 also showed better homeowner NPS, repeat rates, lower pro churn, and higher win rates despite pressured revenue trends. Its leaner cost structure, including about $70-80 million in annual run-rate savings and $100 million of 2028 Senior Notes repurchased for $91.9 million, should support cash flow and provide flexibility to fund growth as proprietary revenue reached about 91.5% of domestic revenue in 1Q26.

Bear case

Angi is facing a deteriorating fundamental profile as revenue is expected to decline for a fourth consecutive year in 2026E, with estimates cut 7% for 2026E and 9% for 2027E after slower proprietary channel volume growth and lower revenue per lead. EBITDA estimates were also reduced 28% and 31%, highlighting that weaker top-line momentum is now translating into meaningful margin contraction versus 2025, despite management’s efforts to improve platform quality. The negative outlook is further driven by heavy dependence on Google search, intense competition and low switching costs, along with added governance risk from Barry Diller’s significant voting power and the possibility that the AI-native turnaround is delayed again.
