The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

Aramark is well positioned by strong commercial execution, with Q3 underlying organic sales growth in the 10%-11% range, record net-new business of $1B YTD, and retention above 98%, all of which support sustained top-line momentum across its core food and support services franchise. The outlook is further strengthened by margin expansion opportunities from NexusTM, productivity gains, pass-through pricing, and leverage over SG&A and central costs, while falling balance sheet leverage and EBITDA growth near 10%+ enhance earnings quality and financial flexibility. Its heavy U.S. exposure, price-inelastic Sports & Leisure business, and incremental data-center opportunity with potential to add $3B-$4B of revenue by 2028 reinforce a durable growth algorithm that can lift FY26-FY28 EPS meaningfully.

Bear case

Aramark is viewed negatively because persistent food inflation and wage pressure could compress margins, especially if its decremental margin framework proves unsustainable during a macro downturn. Its high leverage adds financial risk, limiting flexibility if general business conditions weaken, competition intensifies, or key customers are lost across its cyclical end markets. Because the company derives most revenue from North American food and support services, serving schools, healthcare facilities, and entertainment venues, it remains highly exposed to economic sensitivity and cost inflation.
