The case for and against

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Bull case

CeriBell is attractive fundamentally because it combines a first-mover point-of-care EEG platform with proprietary AI algorithms that improve speed, accuracy, and bedside usability in acute neurology, where rapid decisions materially affect outcomes. The company has translated that advantage into strong operating momentum, including Q2 gross margin of 92.3%, 32 net new accounts to 712 total, and FY26 revenue guidance of $114M-$117M, implying about 28%-31% growth. Its outlook is further supported by a broader TAM above $3.5B, recent FDA clearances for pediatric/neonate and delirium expansion, and a still-low core penetration rate of under 4%, leaving substantial room for continued adoption and utilization.

Bear case

CeriBell is exposed to a fragile clinical adoption thesis because delirium and seizure assessment remains inconsistent, subjective, and often unreliable in ICU settings where hypoactive patients are hard to detect and nurse turnover since 2020 has further weakened bedside accuracy. Its downside is also tied to execution risk, as management itself cites competitive pressure from conventional EEG and new point-of-care offerings, reimbursement and regulatory delays, and disappointing clinical results in expanded indications such as delirium and stroke. Despite rapid growth and a market-leading position, the stock remains vulnerable to subpar financial results and gross margin pressure from tariffs or supply-chain shifts, which could undermine the best-in-class margin profile the market is expecting.
