The case for and against

Updated Jun 30, 2026

Bull case

CytoSorbents is a leader in blood purification technology for the treatment of life-threatening conditions, and their proprietary polymer beads technology has a wide range of applications, including removing blood thinners during cardiothoracic surgery and treating critical illnesses. With strong distributor sales in the U.S. and Canada, as well as royalty income from HemoDefend ABG/RBC in the U.S., the company has shown a track record of consistent growth. The company has also taken steps to strengthen its balance sheet and reach profitability through margin improvement and cost reduction initiatives. Continued growth in the German market is expected to further support the company's financial success.

Bear case

CytoSorbents is facing increasing competition in the blood purification market and has been struggling to gain market share for their products. Despite promising applications in the removal of blood thinners during surgeries and treatment of critical illnesses, the company has not been able to consistently generate significant revenue. Additionally, the significant increase in the company's selling, general, and administrative costs over the past year may have a negative impact on their bottom line.
