The case for and against

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Bull case

GBank Financial Holdings is positioned to benefit from a large, underpenetrated gaming payments market, with close to one million slot machines across the country and an estimated ~$20k per slot machine implying roughly $102mm of potential non-interest deposits versus $233mm already on hand at 6/30. The core investment case is execution-driven: as BoltBetz, Terrible’s, Distill, and the first AXES operator move from approval to full integration and adoption, management expects gaming inflows to begin in 1Q27 and build tangible momentum in 2H27, which should materially expand low-cost funding. Although 1Q diluted EPS of $0.09 missed expectations due to a $4.2mm one-time fraud charge and a floating-rate loan adjustment, adjusted EPS of $0.31, plus management and board stock purchases after the 2Q selloff, supports confidence in the long-term franchise.

Bear case

GBank Financial Holdings is facing a deteriorating near-term risk profile, as non-performing assets rose to 4.06% of total assets, or $60.2 million, from 1.49%, driven largely by a $7.3 million multifamily loan and $23.3 million of at-risk exposure after excluding guaranteed portions. Even with management expecting to resolve 33%-50% of NPAs, the bank remains exposed to intense competition for loans and deposits, rising deposit costs, and continued net interest margin pressure in a higher-rate environment that could weigh on profitability. Its outlook is further constrained by regulatory scrutiny, cybersecurity and technology risks, and the possibility that deposit outflows or funding repricing could impair capital ratios, lending capacity, and returns to shareholders.
