The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

GE Vernova is well positioned for durable growth because its Power and Electrification franchises are benefiting from strong demand, pricing power, and margin expansion, while backlog remains highly visible and increasingly long-dated. Recent results show the quality of the earnings base, with 2Q26 revenue of $11.1bn, adjusted EBITDA of $1.25bn, and free cash flow of $5.1bn, even as the company raised FY26 revenue guidance to $45.5-46.5bn and FCF guidance to $11.5-12.5bn. Its positive outlook is reinforced by tight gas turbine and T&D capacity, plus a rapidly expanding datacenter opportunity that could materially deepen Electrification growth over time.

Bear case

GE Vernova is facing a weaker risk-reward setup because turbine contract additions are slowing, with 20GW of new contracts following 21GW and 24GW in prior quarters, while 2H implied additions fall to just 19GW versus the prior 110GW target implying about 12GW. The company’s fundamentals are also pressured by supply chain bottlenecks, transmission constraints, and a possible demand overhang from efficiency gains in AI and broader electrification, all of which could cap future growth and delay project execution. Wind remains a major drag, with revenue down 10% y/y to $2.03bn, orders down 39% y/y, EBITDA at ($275)mm, and FY26 guidance still implying LDD revenue and about $400mm of EBITDA losses.
