The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

Brazil Potash is supported by a materially de-risked Autazes project, with a fully permitted Tier-1 reserve base of 173.0M tonnes, an expected 23-year mine life, and an initial phase capable of producing up to 2.4Mt of potash per year. Its economics are compelling at a $420/t MOP assumption, implying a $2.5B post-tax NPV, a 15.8% IRR, about $973.0M of average annual EBITDA at nameplate production, and a low $86.76/t life-of-mine operating cost that should support a roughly 79% gross margin. The company also benefits from strong policy and community backing, including over 90% support in the Mura consultation, SUFRAMA tax incentives, potential Profert benefits, and a strategic position in Brazil, which imported about 96% of the potash it consumed in 2025.

Bear case

Brazil Potash is a highly speculative miner whose economics depend on a single potash project in Autazes and on a commodity market that is already volatile, with Brazil CFR Granular MOP recently around $405/t and domestic logistics estimated near $53/t versus about $200/t for imported material. Despite offtake agreements covering 91% of production, future cash flow remains exposed to potash pricing, technical extraction risk, and the possibility that demand softens if prices keep rising, while the company still likely needs additional capital as it approaches a Final Investment Decision. Its outlook is further weakened by liquidity and dilution risk, plus Brazil-specific political and currency exposure because costs are largely in BRL while sales are USD-denominated, creating pressure if financing tightens or the BRL moves unfavorably.
