The case for and against

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Bull case

Everpure is viewed positively because its unified platform and Purity software create a durable moat, enabling share gains across on-premises, hybrid, public cloud, and hyperscale environments while expanding wallet share with roughly 15,000 customers and 64% of F500 coverage. IDC data showing capacity growth accelerating in 1H26, alongside an estimated 60 EB hyperscaler opportunity in CY27/FY28 that could more than double by CY29/FY30, supports the view that demand remains resilient even as pricing rises. Financially, the company’s FY28 initial outlook implies $7.0-$7.3B of sales and $1.7-$1.9B of EBIT, with 24-26% operating margin and high-margin hyperscaler/software revenue adding further upside.

Bear case

Everpure is facing a negative outlook because its enterprise storage demand may not prove durable if core volumes slow, competition intensifies, or the expected “new revenue” from AI and on-premise inference fails to scale beyond a mid-teens share of 2026 new storage purchases. Its Evergreen Subscription and STaaS mix can support innovation, but the ratable revenue model may damp reported growth and create expense-revenue mismatches, while NAND price volatility has already hurt execution, as seen in 3QFY20, and remains a risk into 2027 and potentially 2028. A weaker economic backdrop and any deterioration in Subscription Services ARR, cRPO, subscription revenue, or gross margin would likely pressure sentiment and valuation further.
