The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

UiPath is well positioned to benefit from a structural shift toward agentic automation, as coding agents are lifting developer productivity by ~59% and testing efficiency by as much as ~12x, while rising code volume expands demand for Test Cloud and Dark Factory. Its fundamentals are supported by a broad platform that monetizes governance, orchestration, and vertical outcomes rather than model inference, helping drive AI product ARR above $250M, DBNRR above 120% for BOAT customers, and more than 2,600 $100K+ customers. Profitability and cash generation also look attractive, with non-GAAP operating margin targeting 30%+, gross margin at 84% in FY/27, non-GAAP operating margin improving from 8% in FY/22 to 23% in FY/26, and SBC expected to decline toward 8-10% of revenue over the long term.

Bear case

UiPath is vulnerable to a worsening macro backdrop because contracting IT spending and slower SaaS/cloud adoption can lengthen sales cycles, raise quarterly volatility, and reduce software growth. Its highly fragmented market invites intense competition and deflationary pricing pressure, while cheaper new entrants and larger platform vendors can erode margins and force ongoing investment just to preserve differentiation. The company also depends on partner integrations and a concentrated customer base, so weaker renewals or expansion among the top 10% of customers could disproportionately pressure ARR and revenue, with downside estimates implying a lower 2.5x CY/27E EV/S multiple.
