The case for and against

Updated Aug 30, 2026

Bull case

PagerDuty is positioning itself well in the digital operations management market, with a strong emphasis on AI and automation capabilities to improve efficiency and a growing shift towards a consumption-based pricing model. The company has shown consistent GAAP profitability and is steadily gaining traction with its Operations Cloud product. The recent CFO transition has not impacted the company's operations and we expect a successor to be named soon. PagerDuty is also committed to diversity and inclusion and has a strong focus on energy efficiency. Despite near-term seat-based headwinds, the company's long-term growth potential through new customer acquisition and expansion into new use cases is promising.

Bear case

PagerDuty is heavily reliant on existing customers for revenue growth, and with an increasingly competitive market and the potential for macroeconomic impacts, there is a risk of slowing growth. Additionally, the company's heavy reliance on subscription revenue and the importance of managing renewals could lead to volatility in financial performance. Finally, while the integration of sustainability considerations into its strategy is a positive, it may not be enough to offset potential headwinds in the market or operational challenges.
