The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

ProMIS Neurosciences is attractive because PMN310 is built on a differentiated oligomer-selective strategy that targets toxic amyloid-beta species while sparing plaque, which may preserve efficacy while materially reducing ARIA risk versus approved anti-amyloid antibodies. The PRECISE-AD Phase 1b study’s 6-month blinded interim was especially encouraging, with zero ARIA-E across all genotypes, placebo-like ARIA-H at 4.4%, and favorable tau biomarker movement, while the company reported 2Q26 cash of about $53.4MM and management indicated funding through 2027. Beyond Alzheimer’s, the pipeline adds optionality through PMN267 for ALS and preclinical alpha-synuclein programs, supporting a broader platform thesis with multiple shots on goal.

Bear case

ProMIS Neurosciences is a high-risk, cash-burning clinical-stage biotech whose lead asset, PMN310, is still unproven in humans, with the oligomer hypothesis not yet validated in human studies and Phase Ib interim data potentially difficult to interpret because of low-dose signal dilution, variability, and a short 6-month observation period. Even where biomarker trends look encouraging, the company faces a demanding competitive landscape from approved Aβ antibodies and newer BBB-penetrant agents, so failure to show clearly superior safety through lower ARIA and differentiated efficacy could leave PMN310 unable to win market share. The business also may need to raise significant capital to fund large and costly later-stage Alzheimer’s programs, creating dilution risk, while any unexpected safety issues or lack of functional efficacy could materially undermine the investment case.
