The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

PVH is attractive because its core Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger franchises are showing resilience, with DTC digital up 11% reported and APAC revenue up 10% reported, while newness and stronger core categories are helping offset wholesale weakness. The outlook is further supported by a planned $300+ million buyback this year, which could imply roughly 4 million shares repurchased in 2H, alongside margin support from tariff refunds and ongoing SG&A efficiency gains under the PVH+ Plan. With expected EPS drivers including GIII license takebacks, reduced promotions, and improving channel segmentation, the company appears positioned for stronger revenue momentum and higher EBIT margins over time.

Bear case

PVH is facing a fundamental earnings and growth reset because its largest profit engine, EMEA, remains under pressure from the Middle East war, higher promotional intensity, weaker wholesale demand, and cautious Spring 2027 order books, with the region expected to be down MSD in FY26 and Q3. Although 1Q26 revenue rose 2% to $2.0 billion and inventory fell 5% to $1.5 billion, that performance was supported by 6% DTC growth and timing shifts, while wholesale was still weak and adjusted operating margin fell 160 bps to 6.5% on tariff and marketing pressures. The outlook also reflects worsening channel noise from license takebacks through FY26, flat-to-slightly down FY26 revenue expectations, and the risk that increased competition and macro softness drive FY27 EPS toward $8.50-$9.00.
