The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

Rocket Pharmaceuticals is supported by a clearer pivotal path for RP-A501, where the company has now defined success as 7 of 12 Cohort 4 patients meeting both co-primary endpoints at 12 months, backed by durable phase I follow-up showing all six evaluable patients responded and five of six remain transplant-free. The data also suggest meaningful disease-modifying potential, with three of four early phase II patients showing about 30% to 36% LVMI reductions and management outlining a potentially large Danon disease opportunity exceeding $1 billion in males with HCM and possibly over $2 billion across broader populations. Financially, the $150 million Hercules facility and $283.7 million of cash at the end of 2Q26 extend runway into 3Q28 and potentially into 2029, giving the company time to execute through mid-2027 dosing and mid-2028 top-line data.

Bear case

Rocket Pharmaceuticals is an early commercial-stage gene therapy company with one approved product that is not yet generating revenue, while the majority of its pipeline remains clinical stage and exposed to binary phase I/II/III outcomes. Its outlook is pressured by continuing cash burn, likely future debt or equity raises that could dilute holders, and funding risk if market conditions or clinical validation weaken. Additional headwinds include a Danon disease asset that was subject to a clinical hold, complex manufacturing and scale-up risks, and limited visibility on whether patents, orphan exclusivity, or regulatory approvals will ultimately protect value.
