The case for and against

Updated Oct 21, 2026

Bull case

StandardAero is attractive because its engine-aftermarket franchise combines scarce OEM authorizations, long-term contract visibility, and leadership positions on most engine platforms, with about 77% of revenue tied to long-term agreements and roughly 80% of Engine Services revenue from a #1 or #2 market position. Its LEAP opportunity is especially compelling, as it is the only independent LEAP CBSA license holder in the Americas, with management targeting about $1B of annual LEAP revenue by end-2029 to 2030 and a lifetime opportunity estimated at up to ~$60B. Profitability should also expand as learning-curve gains, pass-through revenue removal of roughly $300M–$400M in FY2026, and insourcing lift margins, while 2026E guidance of $6.375B–$6.500B and record 14.4% adj. EBITDA margin underscore solid execution.

Bear case

StandardAero is facing a negative fundamental setup because weakening global aviation travel metrics could pressure engine utilization and airline maintenance spending, with the higher-margin CRS segment especially vulnerable to shifts in repair demand. Despite strong OEM-authorized positions on platforms like CF34, CFM-56, and LEAP, the company remains exposed to counterparty concentration, labor and capacity ramp inefficiencies, and a recent 270 bps CRS margin decline to 26.3%. Near-term estimates have been cut into the 1Q26 print, including a modeled ~1.5% CRS revenue decline, ~200 bps lower adjusted EBITDA assumptions, and potentially ~2x 1H25 free cash flow use due to inventory ramp.
