The case for and against

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Bull case

Solaris Energy Infr is viewed positively because its contracted behind-the-meter power platform is scaling rapidly as AI-driven data center demand outstrips grid supply, with over 2 GW under long-term contracts and more than 3.1 GW of secured capacity expected by 2029. The company’s recent $1.25 billion debt deal, expanded liquidity, and 2024 Mobile Energy Rentals acquisition strengthen funding and execution while broadening the business into higher-value services, O&M, EPC, and turnkey solutions that increase scope and earnings durability. Financially, 1Q26 revenue rose 55.3% year over year to $196.2 million and adjusted EBITDA surged 78.3% to $83.6 million, while forecasts for 2026-28 EBITDA and 2026-27 guidance were materially raised on robust contract visibility and growing cash generation from Logistics.

Bear case

Solaris Energy Infr is viewed negatively because its higher-growth Power Solutions story still depends on a near-single-supplier base, rapid grid investment, and permitting or local opposition, all of which can delay production and compress returns. The Logistics Solutions segment is also weakening, with revenue of $67.7 million missing the $75.6 million forecast, down 11.1% sequentially and 12.0% year over year, while 3Q26 adjusted EBITDA guidance of $80-95 million came in below consensus. Even with $338 million in cash and management’s claim of $1.16-1.26 billion of annual adjusted EBITDA net to SEI, the outlook remains cautious because growth is exposed to data-center timing, well-completion activity, and rising capital intensity.
