The case for and against

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Bull case

SSR Mining is benefiting from a decisive portfolio shift that removes Türkiye operating exposure and concentrates value in North America, with Canada and the US projected to represent 88% of NAV and 79% of EBITDA after the announced transactions. The completed Çöpler sale delivered approximately $1.49 billion in cash, strengthening the balance sheet and creating flexibility for reinvestment, capital returns, and accretive growth initiatives, while the Hod Maden deal should preserve upside through a 4.0% NSR without development capex or permitting risk. With revenue nearly all precious metals—about 80% gold and 18% silver—and shares trading at roughly 0.12x P/NAV relative to peers, the company appears positioned for a higher-quality valuation profile as uncertainty falls.

Bear case

SSR Mining is viewed negatively because, despite elevated free cash flow and a large pro forma net cash position, the stock still trades at a discount to peers, suggesting the market is pricing in meaningful operational and strategic risks. Its earnings power is highly concentrated, with Marigold and CC&V representing about 70% of production, so any underperformance at those assets could disproportionately weaken results. In addition, the company faces cost inflation risk at roughly $2,250/oz AISC and unresolved Copler transaction risk, which could leave it exposed to Turkey and narrower financial flexibility.
