The case for and against

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Bull case

Workiva is supported by durable demand, with CC cRPO growth at 19% in both Q1 and Q2, subscription revenue growth still expected near 19%, and gross retention above 97% alongside CC NRR around 110.5%, signaling a sticky installed base and resilient expansion. Its growth engine is widening through cross-sell and upmarket adoption, as multi-solution customers reached 75% to 76% of subscription revenue and the $500K+ ACV cohort grew 33% Y/Y in Q2, while new logos contributed about 45% of Q1 subscription revenue. Profitability is also improving quickly, with non-GAAP operating margins of 18.4% already above the FY27 target and GAAP margins near 5%, leaving substantial room for further operating leverage.

Bear case

Workiva is facing a fundamental slowdown in customer momentum, with net new customer additions declining by double digits on a TTM basis in each of the last two quarters and growth in $100K+ ACV customers easing to 20% Y/Y from 27% in the year-ago period. Although its AI-enabled, audit-ready workflow platform may remain relevant, the company still faces significant risks from AI-first entrants, larger competitors, longer sales cycles for multi-product deals, and weaker-than-expected effectiveness from additional sales and marketing spend. Its heavy U.S. revenue concentration, potential headwinds in Europe, and concerns about slower GAAP EBIT margin expansion, SEC reporting growth of roughly 40% of revenue, and declining professional services revenue further support a cautious outlook.
