The case for and against

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Bull case

JFrog is benefiting from a stronger demand backdrop as package attacks and AI-driven software creation push enterprises toward Curation, Zero-Touch Remediation, and broader governance tools that replace manual security processes with clear ROI. Its core Artifactory franchise remains highly defensible, with more than 80% of the Fortune 100 and over 50% of the Fortune 500 as customers and gross retention around 97%, while new security and DevGovOps offerings expand wallet share across a large installed base. The company’s hybrid, universal platform and emerging system-of-record role in the agentic software supply chain support durable long-term growth, and management’s focus on compliance and secure automation appears well aligned with rising enterprise complexity.

Bear case

JFrog is exposed to meaningful fundamental weakness because a material portion of revenue comes from international customers, increasing foreign exchange and macroeconomic risk, while any security breach could quickly damage trust in its platform and reduce demand. The company also operates in a crowded market against pure-play DevSecOps vendors and larger firms such as Microsoft and Amazon, so failure to innovate could limit positioning, compress margins, and weaken future growth opportunities. Its Core Security deals have long sales cycles, cloud business has shown outsized volatility from overconsumption and experimental usage, and slower land-and-expand execution or cloud migration could make bookings and revenue less predictable.
